Story
Apu sells expired hazardous health products at his Whip Up store . Unaware of this, Homer buys them and finds himself in a hospital bed with poisoning. Lisa invites him to contact the consumer protection society. As a result, Apu loses his job, and James Woods takes his place in order to enter the image of a salesman before filming the film.
To make amends for Homer, Apu settles in the Simpsons house and helps them with the housework , while dreaming of returning to his store. The only way to do this is to go to India , where the main department of the Whip Up chain of stores is located. Homer goes with him, but spoils everything. Apu arrives at his former store when another armed raid takes place on him. Apu saves James Woods from a bullet, eventually returns to his previous position.
Guest Star
After Apu’s dismissal, the Whip up store management is looking for a new seller. He was James Woods, an American film actor who needed this job to get into the image of a "nervous salesman" - his role in the new film. Initially, they planned to invite Michael Kane into the episode, but he refused, and the role went to James Woods [1] .
Cultural references
- At the beginning of the series, Apu corrects the expiration date on the product, and he does the same in the full-length movie screen saver, The Simpsons .
- The scene in which Apu and Homer travel on donkeys is a reference to the movie Lawrence of Arabia .
- James Woods became a store salesman to enter the image for the new role, similar to Michael Fox in the film “Through . ”
