Laishevsky district ( Tat. Layış rayonı, Laesh districts ) is an administrative-territorial unit and municipality ( municipal district ) within the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation .

Located in the western part of the republic at the confluence of the river. Volga and Kama .
According to its most famous native - the outstanding Russian poet G.R. Derzhavin - the district is often informally called Derzhavinsky Krai .
The administrative center is the city of Laishevo .

Geography
It borders on the city of Kazan , the Pestrechinsky , Rybno-Slobodsky districts, along the water area of the Kuibyshevsky vkhdr. - with Verkhneuslonsky , Kamsk-Ustyinsky , Alekseevsky , Spassky areas.
Large rivers are the Volga , Kama and Mosha . Almost a third of the region’s land (32.9%) turned out to be under water as a result of the filling of the Kuybyshevsky Vdhr. - one of the largest reservoirs in the world.
History
It was founded on February 14, 1927 . From August 4, 1938 to March 25, 1959, Stolbischensky district existed on part of the territory. On February 1, 1963, the Laishevsky district was transferred to the Pestrechinsky district , restored on January 12, 1965 .
On June 9, 2010, the Law of the Republic of Tatarstan Narmon and Karaishevsky rural settlements were merged into the Narmon rural settlement [4]
In 2013, it is planned to begin construction of the satellite city - SMART City Kazan [1]

Economics
The basis of the region’s economy is industrial enterprises and agriculture. Spring wheat , winter rye , barley , oats , and peas are grown . A popular variety of Matyushinsky tomatoes was developed. Egg production, meat and dairy cattle breeding, animal husbandry and beekeeping are developed.
According to the results of the rating of socio-economic development of municipalities of the Republic of Tatarstan for 2015, Laishevsky district takes 1st place among municipalities with urban and rural populations and is in the lead in the overall rating along with such large municipalities as Kazan, Almetyevsk and Nizhnekamsk. Such large enterprises as the Nefis group of companies, Kazan international airport, INVENT technopolis, as well as representatives of small and medium-sized businesses: Fereks, BKS-service, IZhTs, conduct their work in the district Inzhemim, the warehouse complex of the OZON.ru online store, the Biosphere and Park Service nurseries and others. The Laishevsky Poultry Complex and the Yaratel Poultry Farm, which produce 80% of the eggs in the Republic of Tatarstan, operate in Laishevsky District 11 industrial sites are operating and are in the process of registration. redpriyatiya Laishevsky Pischekombinat Laishevsky and fishery and others. In the village of Borovoye Matyushino there are summer residences of the Government of Tatarstan, a large sanatorium "Santa" and other recreational facilities, as well as elite cottages of Kazan on the banks of the Volga and nearby forest plantations.
In the village of Russkoye Nikolskoye in the Laishevsky district, the republican festival of Russian culture “ Karavon ” is held annually , and in Laishevo - a Russian costume festival in honor of Derzhavin. In Laishevsky district, the Golden Autumn Integrated Social Services Center is operating.
