Kushnitsa ( Ukrainian: Kushnitsya , Hungarian. Kovácsrét ) is a village in the Irshava district of Transcarpathian region . The first mention of the village was revealed in written sources for 1383 . It is located in the valley of the Borzhava River and its tributary Lysychanka at a distance of 37 km from the regional center. The Khust - Svalyava highway passes through the village. In the village begins Borzhavskaya narrow gauge railway Kushnitsa - Beregovo . The population is 5,000.

Content
History
The territory was part of Great Moravia, Kievan Rus, the Kingdom of Hungary, Transylvania, Austria-Hungary. In 1918-1919 the territory was occupied by the Czechoslovak and Romanian army, in May 1919 a meeting in Uzhgorod proclaimed the desire of the region to become part of Czechoslovakia. On June 4, 1920, under the Saint-Germain Treaty, the region became part of Czechoslovakia. In 1944, the village was occupied by Soviet troops.

At the entrance to the village a small mountain monastery is visible.
Religion
The vast majority are Orthodox , there are also representatives of the Greek Catholic Church and community work days .
Demographics
In the 90s of the 20th century, a significant outflow of the population occurred due to the difficult economic situation in post-Soviet Ukraine. The main areas of outflow were the Czech Republic and Slovakia .
Climate
The village is located in temperate latitudes, but due to the physical altitude above sea level, the climate features of the mountainous areas prevail, which determines large daily temperature fluctuations. Winter is cold and snowy, but not for long. A significant impact on the climate is exerted by the Carpathians' protection from cold winds from the north. Spring is early, warm winds from the Central Danube Plain influence.
