Sublayer - an intermediate layer applied to a substrate (substrate) before applying the main layer.
It is used to provide the necessary adhesion during the application of industrial coatings , including polymer ones , to ensure the corrosion resistance of the thermal barrier coatings of gas turbine engine blades, and to relieve stresses during thermal spraying .
Alumina , nichrome , MCrAlY are often used as a sublayer in sputtering. For polymer coatings, adhesives and primers are often used as a sublayer.
