The play “On the Other Side” became a finalist in the BBC International Radio Service’s play contest in 1993. Although the plays were most famous for Stratiev, he also wrote prose, skillfully combining social satire with subtle lyricism.

His works have been translated into more than 30 languages.

The cycle of stories “born in childhood” was awarded the prize of the newspaper “ Literary Russia ” for 1980. Scenarios also brought him success: “Balance” received a silver medal at the Thirteenth International Film Festival in Moscow in 1983; for the “Sun of Childhood”, he was awarded the “Child of Our Time” award at the International Media Fair in Milan that year. The comedy “Untitled Orchestra” in 2005 was recognized as the best Bulgarian film of all time by the readers of the daily 24 Hours, and the Atlantic radio listeners called it the favorite Bulgarian film in 2006.
