Title

The name in Russian comes from “Sofyangsky threshold”, until the construction of the Kumskaya hydroelectric power station, the Sofyanga river was rapids.

Geography

Located on the northwest coast of Topozero .

The village is located on 91 km of the highway 86K-127 Louhi - Suoperya.

Monuments of history

In 2 km from the village along the highway to Kestengu are preserved:

  • Mass grave of Soviet soldiers who fell during the Great Patriotic War. More than 300 soldiers and officers of the Karelian front are buried here [2]
  • Mass grave of Soviet tank soldiers of the 91st separate tank regiment of the 26th army of the Karelian front [3]

Transport

Railway station 92 km of the Louhi - Piaozero branch. Built in 1960-1961 [4] . Passenger traffic is absent. Until 1990, regular mototkater flights were carried out from Sofporog marina to Zasheyk.

Culture

Every year, on the second Saturday of July, a regional holiday "Fisherman's Day" is held.

Economics

In the village, the now closed fish factory operated.
