William Otto Ernst Michaelis ( German: William Otto Ernst Michaelis ; July 19, 1871 , Bischofsburg - January 5, 1948 , Putus ) - German vice admiral, commander of the Reichsmarine in 1920.

Biography

Born in the family of a civil engineer.

He entered the fleet in 1889, in 1892 received an officer rank. Since 1901 he served in the Admiralty.

In 1915-1916 he held the post of Chief of Staff of the High Seas Fleet .

In 1920, he served for several months as the head of the admiralty (commander in chief of the Reichsmarine ). In the same year, he retired with the rank of vice admiral.
