Pavel Matveevich Rzhevsky ( January 1, 1734 - December 24, 1793 ) - lieutenant general, Moscow chief commandant, brother of the generals Stepan , Ivan and Vladimir .

The son of the fleet, Captain Matvey Vasilyevich Rzhevsky (1702-1755), the landowner of Bolkhov Uyezd , from his marriage to Fedosia Naumovna Senyavina (1717-1785), sister of Admiral A.N. Senyavin .
Since 1747, he was brought up with his elder brother Stepan in the noble cadet corps and at the end of the course on September 29, 1756 he was promoted to second lieutenant and left at the corps. On November 25, 1758, he was promoted to lieutenant ; on February 12, 1760, he was promoted to captain and lieutenant;
During his service at the Noble Cadet Corps, Rzhevsky was promoted to colonel on March 14, 1763, with appointment to the army.
On July 10, 1775, Rzhevsky was already promoted to lieutenant general and appointed chief commander in Moscow , which he was until 1778. He died on November 24, 1793.
Married twice:
- 1) on Princess Praskovye Grigoryevna Meshcherskaya and
- 2) on Princess Elena Nikolaevna Dolgorukova (1754-1831).
Son Gregory (from his first marriage) was the Ryazan vice-governor .
