Technique
The “left” skater will perform Lutz like that.
- Sunset. Usually with a back-right sweep .
- Manufacturing. A long arc back on the outer edge of the left ridge, the body is turned outward (to the right).
- Bounce. The skater crouches on his left foot, presses against the ice with his right tooth and performs a jump. The athlete is untwisted primarily due to the swing of the body and hands.
- Counterclockwise rotation.
- Landing on the right foot, on the move back and forth.
Lutz - a jump with an anti-rotational approach (the skater's trajectory resembles the letter S ). Of all such jumps ( Valle , Internal Axel , etc.), only Lutz has become standard - due to the effective swing, allowing to complete three turns.
A typical mistake when performing a lutz is to switch before jumping from the outer edge to the inner one, and as a result, an unintentional flip , unofficially called “ flutz ” ( f lip + lutz ) [2] .
History
Men began to perform double Lutz in the 1920s, and at the 1962 World Cup, Canadian Donald Jackson performed the triple Lutz for the first time, the judges gave him seven 6.0 ratings and he became the world champion. The second performer of the triple lutz was the figure skater from the GDR Jan Hoffman only in 1974, after 12 years, and he also became the world champion. The first triple lutz in a cascade with another triple jump ( toe loop ) was performed in 1984 by Alexander Fadeev . The triple lutz in the cascade in the short program among the best singles was performed in the late 1970s and until 1987, when leaders began to make a triple axel.
Women began to perform Lutz in the 1930s. In 1942, Canadian Barbara Ann Scott first performed double lutz. At the European Championships in 1978, the famous Swiss Denise Bilmann first performed the triple lutz, the first among women to receive a rating of 6.0 for the technique. Then she managed to repeat this jump only at the 1981 World Cup, where she became the champion. At the world championships in 1983 and 1984, triple lutz was able to perform Kay Thomson from Canada (Kay Thomson). It was only in 1988 that the Canadian Elizabeth Manley and the Japanese Midori Ito performed it at the Olympics. At the 1989 World Cup, Frenchwoman Suria Bonali first performed a triple lutz in a cascade with another triple jump (toe loop). At the Grand Prix finals (2000), Russian skater Irina Slutskaya first performed a triple lutz in a cascade with a triple rittberger , for which she received a rating of 6.0 for equipment. The triple lutz in the cascade in the short program among the best singles has been running since the early 1990s.
Back in 1998, in the US Championship, Michael Weiss could conquer the quadruple Lutz - a video replay witnessed a two-leg landing. In the same year, Weiss tried to execute it at the Olympics-98 , but fell. In 2001, Evgeni Plushenko fell on the road. The first recognized ISU quadruple lutz performed on September 16, 2011 at a sectional tournament in the USA, Brandon Mroz [3] , and at an international competition under the auspices of the ISU, Mroz performed this jump on November 12, 2011 in a short program at the NHK Trophy 2011 [4] . In 2015, at the Grand Prix stage in China, the local skater Jin Boyang for the first time performs the fourth lutz in a cascade with a triple toe loop [5] . In September 2018, speaking at the Grand Prix stage among juniors in Lithuania, for the first time in the history of women's figure skating, the fourth lutz was performed by Alexander Trusov [6] , however, a shortage was recorded in the judicial protocols. On October 12, 2018, at the Grand Prix stage among juniors in Armenia, Alexandra completed the fourth lutz cleanly, without a shortage [7] [8] .
