Museum History and Description
The museum was opened in the capital of the Northern Fleet at the initiative of the administration of the closed administrative district of Severomorsk.
The museum’s collections contain a wide variety of exhibits: documents and photographs, awards and banners, paintings and drawings, models of ships, personal belongings of the North Sea. The museum has three halls: Battle Glory, city exposition and exhibition.
The Battle Glory Hall tells about the distant past of the village of Vaenga , founded in 1896-1897, about the history of the creation of the Northern Military Flotilla, about the Northern Fleet during the Great Patriotic War , about the heroes of the North Sea, whose names are given to the streets of the city.
The exhibits of the “city” hall tell about the present day of the capital of the Northern Fleet, which in 2006 celebrated its 55th anniversary. The museum’s exposition is dedicated to the history of the construction of Severomorsk, the activities of various city enterprises, and the achievements of the North Sea residents in the field of culture, education, and sports.
Traveling exhibitions are regularly held in the exhibition hall, the works of artists - professionals and amateurs, masters of art photography and arts and crafts are exhibited. There are also meetings with creative people, artists of the city.
