“Dandelion Wine” is a work that stands out among Ray Bradbury’s literary work with the writer's personal experiences. This is largely an autobiographical book. The protagonist - a boy named Douglas Spaulding - is an allusion to Bradbury himself: Douglas is his middle name, and Spaulding is the maiden name of his paternal grandmother [1] .
In 1971, the crew of the Apollo 15 spacecraft assigned one of the craters of the moon the name in honor of the novel Dandelion Wine [2] (the name has not yet been approved by the International Astronomical Union ).

Story
The action takes place in the summer of 1928 in the fictional city of Green Town, Illinois , the prototype of which is the hometown of Bradbury - Waukegan . The plot focuses on the Spalding brothers: Douglas (12 years old) and Tom (10 years old). The story consists of a string of stories that happened in a small town for three summer months with brothers, their relatives, neighbors, friends, acquaintances.
Grandfather of Tom and Douglas makes dandelion wine every summer. Often Douglas thinks that this wine should keep in itself the current time, those events that occurred when the wine was made: “Wine from dandelions. These words themselves are like summer in the language. Dandelion Wine - Caught and Corked in a Bottle Summer. ”
Continuation
Initially, the story was conceived as more complex and voluminous, but editor Walter Bradbury (namesake) suggested to the writer: “Take this book by the ears and pull it in different directions. She will break into two. Every second [story] will fall out, and the rest will take their place. They form your first book, and the remainder - a continuation. " However, a sequel called “ Summer, goodbye!” ”Was published only in 2006, and not included stories were published a year later by the collection“ Summer Morning, Summer Night ”.
