History
In 1914, several districts of the city of Incheon and the county of Pupyeong were united under the name "Bucheon." In 1931, the district (myeon) of Kyonam ( cor. 계남면 ) was renamed Sosa ( cor. 소 사면 ). In 1941, Sosa received a higher administrative status of "yp." After gaining independence from Japan , the northwestern part of Bucheon was again annexed to Incheon. The status of the city was assigned to Bucheon in 1973.
In 1988, Bucheon was divided into two districts: Namgu (southern) and Chungu (central). Namgu was soon renamed Sosaga. In 1993, after the separation of Chungu, two new districts were formed: Wongmigu and Ojongu. [one]
