History
After the collapse of Cream, Clapton took part in several musical projects, participated in his own short-lived band Blind Faith , including played in several concerts with the duo Delaney and Bonnie . In the spring of 1970, Clapton found out that the accompanying musicians left the Duo Delaney and Bonnie: bassist Carl Radle , drummer Jim Gordon , and keyboardist Bobby Whitlock. Taking the opportunity, Clapton assembled a new group called Derek and the Dominos [1] .
In the second half of 1970, guitarist Dwayne Allman of Allman Brothers began performing with the group. Clapton and Olman highly appreciated each other's work. Clapton at that time played in a concert with Allman Brothers at the invitation of Tom Dowd [2] .
The group recorded only one studio album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs [3] .
Interesting Facts
- Layla Cayley took a pseudonym for herself in honor of one of the group's songs.
