Origin of title
There are several versions of the origin of the modern name of the village. At first they wanted to call the village Yelenovka - in honor of Pehovsky’s wife. But he suggested the name Vorzel - the so-called brick factory, which had previously belonged to the German von Wörsel, was so called. The name impressed Pehovsky because of consonance with the French Versailles [2] .
According to the historian Rybakov, earlier the root “thief” in the Ukrainian language meant “limit” (remember “vorittya”, “gate”, “guess” (go abroad), enemy (alien, from abroad)). If the first part of a word means “dash”, then the second part - the potion - can be the name or the surname of the owner, the owner of this feature. This assumption is also supported by the fact that there was a German colony not far from these lands. Therefore, it is possible that the lands of modern Vorzel were once owned by a German named Zel. According to the Orientalist Likhotvorik , the locality got its name for a completely different reason. Having studied the lexical composition of the Ukrainian language, the scientist came to the conclusion that such a combination of letters (Vorzel) was not typical for him. But the scientist sees the origins of the word in the language of the Scythians , who allegedly lived on these lands. Translated from their language “varzilu” means “iron”. Scythians were famous for their ability to smelt iron .
History
It was formed in 1905 (as the memorial plaque on the building of Vorzelsky railway station) at 37 km of the Kovel railway section near the village of Mikhaylovka (now Mikhaylovka-Rubezhovka ) due to the collusion of local landowners Krasovsky, Chaika, von Derviz, Saratovsky, Pekhovsky and Kicheeva. The fact is that these persons owned the land, which they decided to give to the dacha building. Having learned that in 1900, the Kiev-Kovel railway lay in these cities, landowners, even during its design, gave bribes to a high-ranking official from the Ministry of Communications. As a result, despite the fact that the railway on the Kiev - Grouse section was supposed to have a straight profile and go 8-10 kilometers south-east of modern Vorzel, they began to build it on the lands of landowners. After that, local landowners divided their land mass into 229 rectangular plots for a single settlement.
Near Vorzel in the tract Rakitnoe on land owned by the landowner V.L. Kicheeva, there was a holiday village Kicheevo. The landowner divided her wealth into 258 plots (800–1600 square meters of soot) and sold 20–40 kopecks each. per square sazhen . Subsequently, Kicheevo entered Vorzel, but the name of the stopping platform “Kicheevo” still remains.
During the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1943. Vorzel was occupied by German troops . During the Great Patriotic War, a partisan detachment formed by 14-15-year-old adolescents operated in Vorzel. Many of them were from 10 to 12 years old. The squadron was named "Elusive". In 1943, a detachment of teenage partisans destroyed a large group of punitive ROA, who two days before that had tortured several civilians, suspecting them in connection with the partisans. The battle lasted for several hours, despite the fact that the number of punishers was about 200, and there were only 15 young partisans. Soviet troops were advancing and the front was already closer than 15 kilometers from Vozel. In this last battle, the “Elusives” squad lost three and several were wounded, and the punishers were destroyed, and about 10 people were taken prisoner. During the years of the USSR, it was not customary to mention the actions of the young partisans, since a detachment of adult partisans operated simultaneously in the Kiev region and it was inappropriate to recall that there was another “children's” detachment that organized itself, beat the enemy and was not led by any adult .
In January 1989, the population size was9108 people [3] .
Resort
Because of the clean air that Vorzel has, he is compared to the Russian Kislovodsk . Medically, Vorzel is a resort well suited for the treatment and prevention of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. It was for the purpose of rehabilitation and prevention of these diseases here, even in the times of the USSR , a whole number of boarding houses and sanatoriums were created . In Soviet times, vacationers from all over the Soviet Union came here for rest and treatment. After the collapse of the USSR, the situation worsened a little - many hospitals and sanatoriums were closed. Today, sanatoriums continue to function: "Ukraine", "Star", "Victory", "Kicheevo" and others. Despite the seemingly decline of the resort, a number of new modern small hotels appeared here. All of them are conveniently located not far from the Kiev- Kovel highway, near the Vorzelsky lake, surrounded by forest.
Given that the resort Vorzel is not far from Kiev, you can relax here and on their own. For example, go on a day trip or picnic. To get here from Kiev is not difficult. Shuttle taxis and electric trains go here. Minibuses depart from the metro station Svyatoshin . Shuttle taxi is on Victory Avenue, minibus ride on the route Kiev-Vorzel. The train in the direction of the village leaves the railway station Svyatoshino and Borshchagovka. Through Vorzel go train to Borodyanka , Teterev, Malina , Korosten .
For recreation, there is the “Birch Grove” - a small birch forest, with well-groomed territory, gazebos and benches.
Local sights: the house of Countess Uvarova, built at the beginning of the 20th century; Tulip tree , one of the few in Ukraine.
