During the ride, the player can perform special techniques - a ram, acceleration, hijacking on the move, aimed shooting and “Cyclone” (the car turns 180 ° and the player can conduct aimed shooting). To use these abilities (with the exception of hijacking and ramming), you must accumulate a certain amount of “Attention” that a player receives while jumping or while driving at very high speed. And to perform the theft on the move, you must pick up high speed, without slowing down to drive to the desired machine and hold down the right mouse button until the red mark above the hijacked car turns green. After that, release the mouse button and the hero will perform a spectacular trick . The result - you have a new car. The ram is the simplest method. All that is required for it is just at the right moment to sharply pull the mouse in the direction where the enemy is and the machine will begin to ram it. Each of the individual techniques will be effective in a particular situation. Cyclone should be used if the enemy’s cars are behind you. Hijacking is needed if your car is damaged or you need to hide from the police.

In addition to the chases in the game there is a walking mode (as in Grand Theft Auto , Mafia or The Godfather ). The player can freely move around the city without a car and use firearms . With a player can only have 2 weapons: a pistol with endless ammunition and replaceable weapons ( ultrasound , HK MP5 , AK-47 , M4 or light machine gun ).

In addition to missions, the player can also perform additional tasks. You can, for example, take part in races. The goal is to be the first. In the "Theft" mode, you are required to hijack certain cars and take them to the indicated places. In "Fury" you have to smash everything - fences, pillars, benches and other cars. For this you earn points. There are special points multipliers - a specific item. In the "Taxi" you are required to bring the passenger to a certain point. In “Escape” you must get to the evacuation point as soon as possible - otherwise you will be killed. In "Made to order" you must destroy the enemy machine by any means. For the performance of any of the tasks you are assigned a rank - depending on how quickly you complete the task. The highest rank “ S ” is awarded for a very fast passing (or for 1 place in “Auto racing” or for a very large number of points in “Rage”). The remaining ranks - A, B and C. Rank "C" - is assigned simply for the completion of the task. Carrying out such missions and getting for them the rank of " S ", you open the caches of weapons and you get improvements for the car: you have increased speed, health, time in mode deceleration, impact force, etc.

As the enemy in the game there is the police. If you drive carelessly (destroy everything around, push down pedestrians, etc.), the chase begins. The worse you behave, the more police cars and helicopters chasing you. To get rid of the persecution, you must go as far as possible from the so-called “Surveillance Zone” (as in GTA IV ). Leaving or leaving it, the police will leave you alone after a while.

Simultaneously with the announcement of the video game in February 2006, the film version was announced with Vin Diesel in the lead role and Rich Wilkes, who worked with Diesel on xXx (2002), he was hired to write the script.
