From the Rzhevsky family , on his mother's side - the grandson of Admiral Naum Senyavin . Born after 1734, entered military service in 1758 and took part in the Seven Years War .
As a major in the Shirvan infantry regiment, during the reign of Empress Catherine II, he participated in the 1st Russian-Turkish war and on May 12, 1771 was awarded the Order of St. George 4th degree (No. 97 according to the list of Sudravsky and No. 118 according to the list of Grigorovich - Stepanov)
