History
The division was formed in accordance with the order of the High Command Headquarters No. 0047 dated December 18, 1944 from the 13th Guards Airborne Division in December 1944 in Bykhov , while the brigades that were part of the airborne division became regiments of the division, namely:
- The 3rd Guards Airborne Brigade became the 317th Guards Rifle Regiment;
- The 5th Guards Airborne Brigade became the 322nd Guards Rifle Regiment;
- The 324th Guards Rifle Regiment was formed on the basis of the remnants of brigades after their reorganization into regiments.
January 1, 1945, when the presentation of the Battle Banner took place, is considered the day of formation of the compound.
As part of the army from February 21 to May 11, 1945.
From Bykhov in February 1945 it was transported by military trains to Krakow , from where it was transferred to Budapest through the cities of Buzau and Ploiesti . From March 16 to April 1, 1945, the division fought fiercely near Lake Balaton, fought along the northern coast of Lake Balaton , participated in the liberation of the cities of Veszprem on March 23, 1945, Devecher March 26, 1945, Sarvar March 28, 1945, Szombathely March 29, 1945, April 2, 1945 freed Glognits , then fought on the streets of Vienna , at the end of April she was west of Vienna in the Austrian Alps , chasing the retreating enemy troops .
On April 28, 1945, the division completed the hostilities and was assigned to rest and staffing in the vicinity of the city of Baden . On May 6, 1945, the division marched in the direction of Vienna, and by the morning of May 8, 1945 it concentrated in the area of the city of Traufeld . May 12, 1945 units of the division entered the city of Trebon
