“Mole” ( “Krotik” , Czech. Krtek ) is a Czechoslovak and Czech animated series, the main character of which is an animated character of the same name created by Czech artist Zdenek Miler . A characteristic feature of the character is his large, pretty eyes, although in a real mole they are reduced.

The first series was shown in Prague in 1957. It was devoted to the processing of flax (“How the Mole of the Panties Found”). This was the only series where speech was used. All other series were voiced only by exclamations in order to be understandable to the viewer of any country.
In his interview [2] on the Krotik series, Zdenek Miler recalled:
“I was very lucky, because at the time when I was making the first moles, my daughters were small. They had very beautiful voices, and they laughed very well. I was lucky because I always managed to split them, and when they laughed or cried, I wrote it down. We still have these records, because in spite of all my efforts, I’ve never been able to find anything better. ”

Broadcast in Russia
In Soviet and Russian times, the animated series was broadcast on the TV show Good night, kids! ". Separate series were also produced in the early 2000s on VHS.
Interesting Facts
- One of the triplets from the studio logo can be seen in the episode "The Mole and the Car," he breaks a toy car.
- References to the Mole can be seen in the Soviet cartoons " Lords of Lightning " and " Fidget ."
- In the episodes of “Mole and the Bulldozer” and “Mole and Mom” you can see the cricket from the cartoon of Zdenek Miller “The Adventures of the Cricket”.
- In the episode "The Mole and the Egg" there is a puppy from Zdenek Miller's cartoon "About the Puppy."
- A pike similar to the one in the series “Mole and Umbrella” can be seen in the animated series “ The Adventures of Bolek and Lolek ” in the series “Walking Underwater”.
- There is a filmstrip based on the very first cartoon about a mole, it is called “About a little mole and his costume” [5] , as well as a filmstrip based on the cartoon “A Mole and a Rocket” [6] .
- The author of the cartoon character was the Czech children's writer Eduard Petiška (1924-1987).
Continuation of the series
In 2016, Chinese and Czech animators began work on a new series about Mole in 3D. He received the name "Mole and Panda." The main character has not changed in appearance, in addition he has a friend - the stuffed panda Hoho. Together they experience many different adventures.
In Russia, the series premiered in 2017 on the Carousel channel.
