History

It was founded in 1983 by five engineers from Linkoping University , the first development of the company was software for maintenance of equipment, and a comprehensive ERP- system appeared in 1990. Since 1996, IFS shares have been traded on the Stockholm Stock Exchange .

In 1999, company representatives appeared on all continents. In 2005, the ERP system totaled about 500 thousand users in total; in 2011, about 800 thousand were reported. Alistor Sorby has been the CEO of the company since 2006.

In May 2012, IFS announced the acquisition of Metrix, a company specializing in the development of mobile applications, the purpose of the purchase was the ability to provide mobile solutions for working outside the office, integrated with the ERP-system [1] .

IFS Applications

IFS Applications - component ERP-system, the main product of the company. Panorama Consulting assigns the product to the second group of ERP systems by market share: in the first group - half of the market, on SAP , Oracle and Microsoft systems, the second group, which occupies 11% of the market, IFS shares with systems of Epicor , Sage , Infor , QAD , Lawson, and Ross [2] .

The system contains components: production , finance , personnel , sales , supplies , projects , engineering , maintenance and repair , quality management , document management [ specify ] , environmental impact management .

The system is translated into 22 languages, from the eighth version (2012 release), the system is available for end users from tablets and smartphones [3] .

As of the beginning of 2013, more than 5 thousand system implementations were announced at enterprises in various industries, among customers Nestle , BMW , Saab , Olympus , Mitsubishi , Pepsi , and Three Gorges HPPs are indicated [4] .
