Biography
Alexey Ostapenko was born in Saratov , where he started volleyball. At 13, Ostapenko was noticed by the breeders of Neftyanik , the basic club of the youth national team of Russia, and having received the go-ahead from his parents and his first coach Vladimir Alexandrovich Bakhirev, he went to Yaroslavl . From the age of 16, Alexey played in the main line-up of Neftyanik, in 2005, together with Sergey Grankin, he moved to Moscow , played first for Luch , and a year later for Dynamo . Together, in 2004–2005, they also performed in the youth national team of Russia, which after a relatively long break won the European and World Championships .
On December 24, 2005, Ostapenko played the first game for the adult national team of Russia - against the team of legionaries of the Russian championship in the “Star Game ” Super League. A young blocker with 15 points was one of the most successful and won the competition for the strongest pitch. As part of the World League, on August 5, 2006, in the match Russia - China (3: 0), he officially debuted in the Russian team. In total, in 2006–2008, he played for the national team in 58 matches [1] .
During the Olympics in Beijing, Ostapenko seriously injured his leg, because of this, completely missed the 2008/09 club season, and later played for Dynamo irregularly. In 2012–2014 he defended the colors of the Nizhny Novgorod “Province” .
In 2014, after a six-year break, he returned to the Russian national team, played in three World League matches . In the season 2014/15 he played for the Italian Piacenza , in May 2015 he moved to Lokomotiv Novosibirsk , but in October the contract was terminated due to the prolonged recovery after knee surgery [2] . In the summer of 2016, Alexey Ostapenko returned to Dynamo Moscow [3] .
