Story

The film is a vivid representative of the Soviet cinema of the 1930s, created under the influence of the ideas of the “world revolution” and “class struggle”. The interpretation of the events in the film is radically different from the canonical version set forth in the book " Treasure Island ". The approach of the authors of the film to the literary principle has caused controversy on the pages of the press and in the correspondence of leading workers in cinema and the Central Committee .

The end of the XVIII century . Irish rebels need money to buy weapons. Jenny, the daughter of the owner of the village hotel, and Dr. Laivesi, one of the rebel leaders, find the treasure island map in the papers of the pirate Billy Bones. Laivesi and Captain Smollett with friends attract a loan shark Trelawney to equip the ship with his money. Many crew sailors turn out to be pirates. Jenny, secretly in love with Laivesi, disguises herself as a boy and gets on the ship as a young boy.

During the treasure hunt, the infamous Trelawney runs to the side of the pirates. Having undergone a series of adventures, Dr. Laivesi, Jenny (again taking on the appearance of a girl) and their friends find a pirate treasure. Meanwhile, Jenny is captured by the pirates and kept on the Hispaniola under the supervision of Israel Gands and George Merry. The pirates fight on knives, Gands kills Merry and attacks Jenny, but at the last moment Dr. Laivesi's bullet kills him. Heroes arrest boatswain John Silver, but he fights back and dies in a duel with captain Smollett. The rebels leave the pirates on a desert island, and return to Ireland with treasures to buy weapons and continue the uprising.
