The Morphological Catalog of the Craters of the Moon, edited by V. Shevchenko, was published by the Moscow University Press in 1987 [1] .
The handbook contains the coordinates , diameters and morphological signs of 14 923 craters of the Moon , with a diameter of more than 10 km .
The accuracy of the image of craters on the visible and on the reverse side, on the "Complete Moon Map" is different: ± 0.2 ° on the visible side and ± 0.5 ° on the back (in some cases more than 1 °). Obtained by comparing the deviations in latitude and longitude are within these limits. The discrepancies in the determination of crater diameters are on average ± 2 km for craters with a diameter of 10 to 50 km and ± 5-10 km for larger craters. Such character of deviations should be considered normal, since the craters on the “Full Moon Map”, the main scale of which is 1: 5,000,000 ( 1 mm - 5 km ), are depicted by the method of half-tone washing, and the comparison is made [by whom? ] with completely independent material prepared in the USA (IAU).
