The area is famous for its cherries , the city hosts an annual cherry festival.
By 2023, as part of the construction of the ring of the Sea of Marmara , it is planned to erect the Canakkale-1915 bridge across the Dardanelles Strait, which will connect the cities of Lapek and Gelibolu (Canakkale province) [1] [2] .
History
The city was founded by Greek colonists. In ancient times it was called Pitiussa, then Lampsak.
