Interesting Facts
- Composer Dmitry Shostakovich never wrote the ballet The Young Lady and the Hooligan. In the early 60s of the XX century, Alexander Belinsky wrote the libretto based on the screenplay of Vladimir Mayakovsky, and the choreographer Konstantin Boyarsky created a choreographic solution. The music was taken from Shostakovich’s three ballets written in the 1930s - Bolt , Golden Age , and Bright Stream . The score also included fragments from his movie music. Of course, without Shostakovich’s consent, such a statement would be impossible. The play “The Young Lady and the Hooligan” was first presented to the audience in 1962 at the Maly Opera and Ballet Theater in Leningrad. [one]
