Anushavan Vardanyan ( Armenian Անուշավան Սոսանվեր ; “sosanver” (sos - “ sycamore ” and nver - “gift, dedication”)), in Armenian mythology - the legendary ancient Armenian ruler, grandson Ara Gehezik , smart, gifted young man ; the embodiment of a plane tree or sacred grove of plane trees near Armavir (the capital and religious center of the ancient Armenian kingdom of Ararat). Anushavan was turned to the spirit of the sacred plane tree for predicting the future (in the grove they divined according to the rustle of tree leaves). The etymology of the name indicates, apparently, that Anushavan Sosanver was associated with the eternal cyclical revival of vegetation. Anushavan ruled from 1744-1726. Don. e.
