Career
In 2006, Maflin won the World Amateur Championship , beating 1/2 Attasita Mahitha , 8: 4, and the final of Daniel Ward , 11: 8. During the championship, he consistently won 15 matches.
Kurt began playing snooker at 4 years old, and at the age of 5 made a break of 25 points. Being a great junior, he won the serious tournament - Home International series as part of the English children’s team. At age 14, Kurt was invited to the Liverpool Victoria Charity Challenge charity tournament. There he played with the famous Dennis Taylor .
In 2000, Mathlin was the first to manage to defend the British title in the U-17 category (he won the previous one a year ago at age 16).
Maughlin also appeared twice on a BBC-1 television show entitled "Junior Big Break: Stars of the Future" in 1997 and 1998.
In 2001, Maflin reached the final of the European Championship in Riga and after that for the first time received the right to play on the main tour . It is noteworthy that he became one of the youngest debutants of the tour. But the very next season he left him, and returned to serious competitions only in 2006. Then he played in a series of PIOS matches and took 1st place, again reserving the right to play on the main tour for the next season. In 2007, Kurt had a brilliant opportunity to enter the prestigious Masters tournament , but in the match for a ticket there he lost to the Englishman Barry Hawkins .
At the beginning of 2010, Maflin had a car accident and was forced to play with a metal plate in his shoulder [5] . In May, Maughlin, beating in the final of the EBSA International Play Off tournament, held in Bucharest, with a score of 5: 2 another ex-pro, Maltese Alex Borg , won a ticket to the main tour for the 2010/11 season . In June, at the 1st stage of the Players Tour Championship, Maughlin made 147 [6] .
In 2011, Maflin entered the 1/16 finals of the China Open , which is one of his best career achievements. He could have passed in the 1 / 8th, but, leading in the match against Ding Junhui 4: 1, he lost all the remaining frames.
Personal life
Married to Anita Rizzuti , who also plays snooker and is currently Norway's best snooker player. They have two children [7] .
