Biography

Alexander Tihanovich and Jadwiga Poplavskaya. Severodvinsk , Navy Day , 2009

Born in a musical family, father, choirmaster Konstantin Poplavsky , together with Gennady Tsitovich created the Belarusian State Folk Choir . [5]

Our family had three children - an older sister, a younger brother and myself. Dad had a dream to make a family trio. Kristina was supposed to play the piano, I - the violin, and the youngest Chesik - on the cello. Honestly, the first year I tried very hard, I worked in good faith. But it was so difficult for me to stand for a long time and hold the violin in my hands, they waved my hand at me and put me at the piano. Here I also showed perseverance, because it was interesting for me to pick up tunes, play with my sister in 4 hands and see how mom and dad like it [6] .

She graduated from the Belarusian Conservatory twice - in piano (1972) and composition department (1988). In 1971 she was among the founders of the Minsk VIA Verasa, popular in the 1970s . In the ensemble, she played keyboards, performed vocal parts, and wrote arrangements. In 1973, Alexander Tikhanovich (bass, vocals, trumpet) came to the ensemble, who later became the husband of Jadwiga Poplavskaya.

In 1986, Poplavskaya and Tikhanovich were forced to part with the Veras ensemble, and in 1987 they fell into the newly organized State Orchestra of Belarus under the direction of Mikhail Finberg .

After winning the “Song of 1988” competition with the song “Lucky Chance” (music by Eduard Hank , lyrics by Larisa Rubalskaya ), Poplavskaya and Tikhanovich created a duet of the same name, and later a group of the same name was formed on the basis of the duet. In the “Happy Event” group, she was engaged in arranging, playing keyboards and was a vocalist. The group participated in the Golden Lyre festival (Belarus), toured in Russia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Yugoslavia, Poland, Hungary, Finland, France, Canada and Israel.

In 1988 , together with her husband, he organized the Yadviga Poplavskaya and Alexander Tikhanovich Song Theater , through whose studio many young Belarusian performers passed - Alexander Solodukha , the group “ Lyapis Trubetskoy ” and others.

The song “Charanitsa” was included in the repertoire of the duo Poplavskaya and Tikhanovich (as well as the group “Chuk i Gek”, the song and dance ensemble of the Armed Forces of Belarus). For the arrangement Poplavskaya and Sergey Sukhomlin became winners in the nomination “The best arranger of the year” [7] [ specify the link ] .

Conflict with Edward Hank

Composer Eduard Hanok announced on April 28, 2017 that his copyrights were grossly violated and, as the owner of exclusive rights, since April 26, 2017, has prohibited the execution and broadcasting of works from the repertoire of Poplavskaya and Tikhanovich “Lucky Case” to the words of Larisa Rubalskaya; “I live with my grandmother” to the words of Igor Shaferan; "Zavіruha" to the words of Gennady Buravkin; "Robins hearing a voice" to the words of Anatoly Poperechny. [8]

Commenting on the situation, the daughter of Yadvigi Poplavskaya, singer Anastasia Tikhanovich , revealed the intention of Eduard Hank to receive $ 25,000 for the right to continue playing his songs and the impossibility of paying them because of the high expenses for the treatment of her father, Alexander Tikhanovich. [9]

Eduard Hanok also stated that he intends to sue Jadwiga Poplavskaya “in connection with the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation” [10] , noting that not a single Belarusian newspaper that wrote about Tikhanovich’s funeral mentioned his authorship of “Robin ". [eleven]

On May 3, 2017, Eduard Hanok refused to sue, expressing the opinion that a ban on the performance of his songs was enough for him. [12]

On July 5, 2017, Eduard Hanok changed his mind and again shared with journalists the intention to defend his “honor, dignity and business reputation” in court, despite the fact that this ban was never violated. [13]
