Biography
Born in the family of a soldier. Father died at the front. He graduated from high school number 222 in Leningrad . In 1952 he graduated with honors from the History Department of Leningrad State University.
After graduating from graduate school in 1955 he defended his thesis “National assistance in the restoration of the coal industry of Donbass in 1943-1945.” He worked as an assistant, since 1959 - associate professor of the Department of History of the USSR at the History Department of Leningrad State University. In 1962-1965 - Dean of the Faculty for Foreign Citizens of LSU.
In 1968 he defended his doctoral dissertation "Workers of Leningrad during the post-war reconstruction and development of the national economy (1945-1955)."
In 1968-1971 - Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies of Teachers of Social Sciences at Leningrad State University.
From 1971 to 1982 he was dean of the Faculty of History of Leningrad State University. At the same time, he headed the department of history of the CPSU.
In 1975 he was awarded the USSR State Prize as a member of the authorial collective "History of Leningrad Workers".
In 1982 he moved to work at the Leningrad Higher Party School (after the reorganization, the North-West Academy of Public Administration ).
The main subject of scientific activity is the history of the working class of the USSR.
