Mavrodin, Vladimir Vasilievich

Father, Vasily Konstantinovich (1856-1911) - officer of the border guard. Mother, Natalya Grigorievna (d. In 1929) - teacher.

He graduated from the historical department of the historical-linguistic faculty of Leningrad State University , where he studied in 1926-1930, a student of B. D. Grekov . Then he was left at the graduate school of the Historical Linguistic Institute (LILI), where S. N. Valk had a great influence on him, in 1933 he defended his thesis “On the issue of large corvée farming in the 17th century” (B. D. Grekov was the opponent and M. M. Tsvibak , also M.N.

In 1930 - 1937, he was a junior, then a senior research fellow at the State Automated Aviation Institute . In the 1903s, the main scientific interests of V.V. Mavrodin were formed: the history of Ancient Russia , Russia in the 18th century (the reign of Peter I and the class struggle in the second half of the century), historiography .

Subsequent activities of the scientist are associated with the Faculty of History of Leningrad State University, where he worked for more than 50 years. From 1939 to 1971 (with interruptions) he was the dean of the faculty, headed the department of history of the USSR. One of the breaks was connected with the war and evacuation: from 1943 to 1944, V.V. Mavrodin headed the department of the Department of History of the USSR at the historical and philological faculty of Saratov University . Since 1940 - Doctor of Historical Sciences (the published monograph Essays on the History of Left-Bank Ukraine was presented for defense; official opponents B. D. Grekov, V. I. Ravdonikas and I. I. Yakovkin ).

In 1970, V.V. Mavrodin was nominated as a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in the Department of History ^[3] , but was not elected.

Spouse - Anna Afanasevna; son Valentin (born 1945) - candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of St. Petersburg State University of Chemistry , specialist in the history of weapons ^[4] .

He was buried in the cemetery of Zelenogorsk .
