Criticism
Film historians call the best work of the sisters Brumberg the satirical film Big Trouble (1961; the artists are Lana Azarkh and Valentin Lalayants), in which the narration is conducted on behalf of the girl. The graphic series of the film is made in the style of children's drawings. The picture played an important role in updating and enriching the artistic expressiveness of the animated drawing, the use of the metaphorical language and the convention of animation [2] .
The director-animator D. Babichenko in a review in the magazine “ Art of Cinema ” noted in the film not a new, but innovatively sounding technique (the image of what is happening from the girl’s point of view), a sharp satire, a light poetic text, no stamps in the drawing, expressive musical characteristics of the characters, thoughtful installation and, in general, fruitfulness of the search for a new form and content [3] .
Film expert S.V. Asenin noted the deserved success of the film, praising the laconic picture that is in harmony with the psychology of the girl narrator, the accuracy of the graphic characteristics of the characters, the contrast of children's perception and non-children's meaning [4] .
According to the director-multiplier I. P. Ivanov-Vano , the film became a milestone in the process of liberation from the “fetters of Disney aesthetics”, in search of new visual forms oriented to the adult viewer [5] .
