Due to the strike of the players' union, the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation postponed all the matches of all leagues planned for October 15, 1995 . Some clubs agreed on friendly matches. These clubs included both Mura IK , of the 2 division, and Brunes IF , who played in the top division.

In the seventh minute of the third period, in one of the game episodes, Bengt Ockerblom was on the ice. His teammate Andreas Olsson tried to jump over him to avoid a collision with Okerblom lying on the ice, but his skate touched Okerblom's neck during the jump and cut his carotid artery and trachea. The 28-year-old hockey player passed away a few hours later in a hospital in the city of Mura .
