Women's slalom competitions in the alpine skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympics were held on February 26th . Air temperature -1.3 ... + 1.0 ° C. Snow, snow on the track is dense.
The competition was held at Whistler Creekside from 10:00 to 11:45 (first attempt) and from 13:00 to 14:15 (second attempt) local time ( UTC-8 ). In the second attempt, the 30 best skiers, according to the results of the first attempt, started in the reverse order from 30th place to 1st. Those who took places in the first attempt from the 31st and below started after that in direct order (in the World Cup in the second attempt only the top 30 will start).
German Maria Risch won her second gold award at the Vancouver Olympics after winning the super combination .
Three winners showed 5 of the 6 best results in both attempts, only the Austrian Elizabeth Görgl showed the second time in the second descent, but in the end remained the seventh (Zagrobskaya in the second attempt showed the seventh result). 4 skiers eventually lost to the champion in less than 2 seconds.
Olympic champion in downhill skiing, American Lindsey Vonn , who came down in her first attempt, performed with a broken little finger on her right hand, which she injured 2 days earlier during a giant slalom fall on the track [1] [2] .
After the first attempt, in the 4th place with a delay of 0.06 seconds from the third, Susanna Rish , the younger sister of Mary, walked. In the second attempt, Susanna did not finish. If the Riesch sisters got on the podium, this would be the first such event in women's skiing at the Olympic Games since 1964, when French women Mariel and Christine Gouachel simultaneously climbed the podium in Innsbruck. In men's skiing, the last time the United States brothers stood together was the U.S. brothers Steve and Phil Mare , who won gold and silver in slalom in 1984 in Sarajevo .
