Biography

Perhaps Ramses X was the son of Ramses IX or his son-in-law, as well as the husband of Queen Titi, but this is unproven. In any case, Titi, who is known as “the daughter of the pharaoh, the wife of the pharaoh, and the mother of the pharaoh,” more than anyone else, fits the role of the wife of Ramesses X. If you recognize Ramesses IX as the father of Ramesses X, then his mother could well be Queen Bakenerel.

Almost nothing is known about this pharaoh, except that during his time a mess reigned in the country and tomb robberies continued. The graves of one of the wives of Seti I , Amenhotep III, and others were subjected to rape. Even the duration of his reign remains unknown. His 1st and 2nd years of reign are attested in the Turin Papyrus 1932 + 1939. The third year is known from surviving records in the workers' village of the royal necropolis in Deir al-Medina .

The records tell us that in the third year of Ramses’s reign X 6, 9, 11, 12, 18, 21, and 24 of the third month of the Peret season (that is, “Shoots”) the workers were forced to remain inactive and did not go to work because of fear before the "inhabitants of the desert" (that is, before the Libyans ). This clearly shows that the gangs of Libyans have committed atrocities throughout the country and in their raids reached Thebes .

Ramses X was the last pharaoh of the New Kingdom , whose name is attested in Nubia - his royal name is preserved on the pillar of the temple in Aniba. A small stele and an inscription on the assigned sphinx in Karnak are also preserved.

The tomb of Ramses X in the Valley of the Kings ( KV18 ) was not completed and it is doubtful that he was ever buried there. There are no data on any fragments of the burial utensils from this tomb. Until recently, it was covered with rubble; only her first corridor was accessible. In the course of the work of 1998-2000, it was thoroughly and thoroughly documented. The mummy of Ramses X is not detected or not identified. Queen Titi is buried in the Valley of the Queens , where her tomb was found (QV52).

Apparently Ramses X ruled 3 or, at most, 4 years, and not 9-10 as previously thought.
