Alpine skiing competitions at the 2010 Winter Olympics were held from February 15 to 27 . Initially, the first discipline (men's downhill) was scheduled for February 13 , but due to rain and high air temperature it was delayed for 2 days and was held on the 15th. 10 sets of awards were played.

All competitions were held at the Whistler Creekside ski resort, located 125 km north of Vancouver . During the starts, the temperature of the air and snow fluctuated around zero, from time to time fog fell on the track, and it was raining.

  • None of the participating Olympic champions of past years managed to win in Vancouver, all the champions for the first time in their careers achieved this success;
  • Austrian male skiers failed to win a single award in Vancouver. Apart from the 1936 Olympic Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , when skiers competed only in combination, the Austrians for the first time in history were left without prizes in men's skiing at the Olympic Games. Three times in Vancouver, the Austrians took 4th place, twice 5th and twice 6th;
  • 3 gold medals were won by German skiers (the only two-time Olympic champion in Vancouver 2010 in skiing was Maria Risch , Victoria Rebensburg won another gold);
  • The Canadians who won the Olympic Games medal failed to win a single medal in alpine skiing;
  • The Americans in the first 6 disciplines won 8 awards (2 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze), but in the last 4 starts of the Olympics were left without awards;
  • American Bode Miller and Norwegian Axel Lund Svindahl won the full set of awards - gold, silver and bronze;
  • Thanks to the efforts of Sharki Zagrobskaya, the Czech Republic won its first Olympic award in skiing (in 1984 in Sarajevo Olga Harvatova won the only Olympic "ski" medal of Czechoslovakia);
  • Lindsey Vonn became the first American to win the downhill at the Olympics;
  • Giuliano Razzoli , who won the last day of the alpine skiing program in men's slalom, won the only gold medal in Italy at the Olympics in Vancouver;
  • Three skiers at once won 2 silver awards - American Julia Mancuso , Slovenian Tina Mase and Croat Ivica Kostelic .
  • Swede Anya Persona , having won bronze in the super combination, became the third in the history of Olympic skiing, who managed to win at least 6 medals. In total, Ani has 3 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals for 3 Olympics;
  • Marco Büchel from Liechtenstein took part in the 6th consecutive Winter Olympics (1992-2010);
  • 51-year-old Prince Hubertus von Hohenlohe (Hohenlohe) ( German: Hubertus von Hohenlohe ), a German nobleman born and speaking for Mexico, returned to the Olympic Games 16 years later. Before Vancouver, Hubertus participated in the 1984, 1988, 1992, and 1994 Winter Olympics.
