Geography
It is located on the right bank of the Vetluga River, the left tributary of the great Russian Volga River .
History
Date of foundation of the village is unknown. According to historical data, the settlement existed here since ancient times.
For a long time in the village there was a wooden Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist , which eventually decayed. In exchange for it, at the expense of the funds collected by the parishioners of the church, in the period 1816-1839. in Bogorodsky a new three-altar church of the Icon of the Mother of God Kazan was built [3] .
According to the Central Statistical Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Empire of 1859, published in 1863: “The Nizhny Novgorod Governorate of Makaryevskiy District, I-St, Bogorodskoe is an owner’s village , at r. Vetluge. Located on a country road - from the village of Resurrection to the city of Makaryev . Distance in miles: from the county town 141, from the apartment apartment 9; the number of households is 54, the number of inhabitants: male - 132 people, female - 164 people. The Orthodox Church: 1 (one), a pier on the river ” [4] .
