Design
Twin - engine high - wing . Its characteristic feature is a short massive fuselage of almost square cross section, selected primarily because of the simplicity of design and ease of loading of a small transport aircraft. An unexpected consequence of the box-shaped fuselage (giving the aircraft the nickname "The Shed" and the "flying shoe box" ("Flying Shoebox" [2] ) was that due to the wide flat bottom it works as a supporting body , creating up to a third (about 30%) of the total lift of the structure, which significantly improved the take-off and landing characteristics of the aircraft.
