The match for the third place was not held, two athletes (Egan and Lydon) were awarded with bronze medals.

Jack Egen won a silver medal in lightweight (up to 61.2 kg) weight and a bronze medal and welterweight (up to 65.8 kg) weight. Later it turned out that he acted under a pseudonym, and his real name was Frank Joseph Foyd, while according to the rules of the organization that organized the Olympic competitions, the athletes had to perform under their own names. In November 1905, Egan was disqualified and deprived of all his awards. In the lightweight class, silver passed to Russell van Horn , and bronze to Peter Starholdt (while Starholdt won no victory in a single bout). The welterweight bronze medal remained with Joseph Lydon . However, in accordance with the IOC Olympic Games database of 1904, the IOC recognizes Jack Egen as silver lightweight medalist and welterweight bronze medalist, Russell van Horne as lightweight lightweight medalist, and Joseph Lydon retained the welterweight bronze medal.
