Bracciano (also Lago di Bracciano , Italian. Lago di Bracciano ) is a lake 32 km northwest of Rome , the largest after Bolsena in the Italian region of Lazio . With an area of 56.76 square meters. km takes 8th place among the lakes of Italy . Depth up to 156 m. The round shape of the reservoir is characteristic of crater lakes .

In antiquity, the lake was called Sabatinsky (lat. Lacus Sabatinus ). On its shore there are medieval castles in Bracciano (the princely residence of one of the branches of the Orsini house) and in the town of Anguilar Sabazia . The lake is connected to the Vatican by the ancient aqueduct of Trajan .
