About the album
The End of Evangelion contains music composed and performed by Ciro Sagisu , as well as completing the theme of the film, Suite No. 3 (Air on the G-String) and the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben (with it. - “ Through the lips, the heart, our deeds, our whole life. ”) Johann Sebastian Bach .
In addition to the classics, there are elements of pop rock and jazz, but the plot shows a real dance of death [4] . The end of the world takes place under unobtrusive and in some places frankly funny music. This motive suggests that the holiday begins and they do not ask anyone whether they want to die or not. This is inevitable, you need to relax and have fun. Some leave with a smile on their faces (Kozo Fuyutsuki, Maya Ibuki, Kil Lorenz), others with bewilderment (Makoto Hyuga) and in fear (Shigeru Aoba), or consciously, like Gendo Ikari .
In the Oricon sales ranking, the highest place occupied by this album was third [5] . For eleven years since the release, he remained the only anime album that could reach such a high mark. Only in 2008, the Macross Frontier [6] was in the same position.
Arianna Schreiber, in addition to “Komm, süsser Tod”, also sang “Everything you've ever dreamed” to Hideaki Anno’s lyrics translated by Michael Wyzgowski, but the song didn’t get into the soundtrack, remaining on the collections “S2 Works” (1998), “Refrain of Evangelion ”(2003) and“ Evangelion Piano Forte ”(2013) [7] .
On May 11, 2004, the American edition of Geneon Entertainment [8] [9] appeared . December 22, 2004 “The End of Evangelion” was released in DVD-Audio format [10] .
In 2014, “Come sweet death, second impact” was already performed in Japanese by Megumi Hayashibara in the album “The world! EVAngelion JAZZ night = The Tokyo III Jazz club = " [11] [12] .
In 2018-2019, compositions from the film were presented by conductor Kenichi Shimura during the concert tour “Music from Anime and Computer Games” in Russian cities. In particular, part of the third Bach suite sounded [13] .
