Biography
His father was an officer in cavalry and was killed at the beginning of World War I.
He graduated in law and political science. In 1938 he was appointed an attache in Ankara. Participated in the resistance movement of the Vichy regime. In 1943, he joined the National Liberation Committee in Algeria, where he became Chief of Staff of the Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Rene Massigli. In 1944, joining the army, he participated in the operation to liberate Provence. In February 1945 he was seriously injured in Alsace. Subsequently, he was awarded the Military Order of the Legion of Honor.
In 1946 he returned to the diplomatic service as the first secretary of the French embassy in the UK. He then served as political director at the French High Commission in Germany, as consul general in San Francisco, and as deputy permanent representative of France at the United Nations Security Council during the Suez crisis.

In April 1982, he committed suicide by shooting himself with a hunting rifle.
