Yakush, Mikhail Mikhailovich

Born on February 4, 1947 in the village of Dostoevo (now the Ivanovo district of the Brest region of Belarus ).

Education

He graduated from the Higher School of Economics under the Central Committee of the CPSU .

He began his career as a carpenter in the Urup mine department (Karachay-Cherkess Autonomous Region) in 1964 , worked as the head of technical creativity circles in the Urup District School of Pioneers and Schoolchildren, and as a turner at the Urup Mine Processing Plant.

Political Activities

Since 1971, he was an instructor, the head of the organizational department of the Urup regional committee of the CPSU, then an instructor of the Karachay-Cherkess regional committee of the CPSU.

From 1982 to 1985 - second secretary of the Khabez district committee of the CPSU. Since 1985, he held senior positions in the regional department of agriculture, was the deputy chairman of the regional agro-industrial committee.

In June 1995, he was elected to the People’s Assembly of the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, and headed the Committee on Finance and Taxes.

In December 1995, he was elected to the State Duma of the second convocation , was a member of the Communist Party faction, a member of the Committee on Nationalities.

In 1999, he ran for president of Karachay-Cherkessia , took third place, gaining about 16% of the vote.

He is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party since 1995. He was the first secretary of the Karachay-Cherkess branch of the Communist Party.

Married, has two children.
