A cable car built in 1955 leads to the summit of Aiguille du Midi from Chamonix. For two decades, the road held the palm as the highest cableway in the world. Until now, it takes the first place in terms of elevation between the lower (1035 m) and upper station (3777 m). The cable car consists of two sections. The first section of Chamonix is Plan de l'Aiguille at an altitude of 2317 m. The second section without intermediate supports raises the cab directly to the upper platform of the cable car. Ascent from Chamonix to the upper station takes 20 minutes. The capacity of the road is 550 people per hour [2] . The ticket price (as of August 28, 2015) was € 57 round-trip. At the upper station there is an observation deck, a cafe with 30 seats and a gift shop [2] .
From the top, the longest 22 km ski slope along the White Valley originates in Chamonix.

Another cable car - the Vallee Blanche Aerial Tramway, or Télécabine Panoramic Mont-Blanc - connects the peak with the Helbronner peak (3462 m), located in the southern part of the Mont Blanc massif, in Italy . This cable car operates in the summer. A ride on this cable car provides a panoramic view of the many peaks of the Alps. From the summit of Helbronner it is possible to descend by cable car to La Palud , Courmayeur , located on the Italian side, at the southern foot of the Mont Blanc massif [2] .
