Ostia Road ( lat.Via Ostiensis , Italian. Via Ostiense ) - an important road of ancient Rome , which connected Rome with Ostia .
A road of 30 kilometers was built in the IV century. n er and got its name by destination. The road began at the Bull Forum , passing between Aventin and the Tiber , through the Porta Trigemina of the Servius Wall . After the construction of the Aurelian wall, the road began to pass through the gates of St. Paul . During the late Roman Empire, Ostia as a major port and the road to it began to lose its significance. The modern Via Ostiense follows the same route as the ancient Roman road, connecting modern Ostia and Rome.
