Semeru ( indone. Semeru ) or Muhomer is the highest volcano on the island of Java in Indonesia . Semeru is located at the southern end of the volcanic complex - the Tengger Caldera. In the crater of the volcano is a lava lake. The height of Semeu - 3676 m (the highest point of the island), has several craters; the diameter of the modern crater is 500–650 m, the depth is up to 220 m. The volcano is composed of andesites and basalts . It is the main attraction of the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park.

Large eruptions
Since 1818, 55 eruptions have been noted Semeru. Since 1967, the volcano has been constantly active, it spews puffs of smoke, ash and pyroclastic material with an interval of 20-30 minutes [1] . Eruptions now occur mainly in the southeastern crater of the volcano [1] .
