City History

Human settlements in Anyang appeared in the Bronze Age . In 1988, archaeological excavations revealed to the world many dolmens belonging to the times of the Samhan tribal unions. In 475, the village of Yulmok, located on the territory of modern Anyang , became famous. At that time it was the territory of the state of Goguryeo . During the Koryo dynasty, there was the city of Kwaju, renamed Gwacheon during the Joseon period. Anyan received the modern name in 1941 .
