Voltova Battery (constellation)

The Voltaic Battery is the canceled constellation of the northern hemisphere of the sky. Proposed by Thomas Jung in 1806 , in honor of the galvanic cell , which 7 years earlier (in 1799) invented Alessandro Volta . The constellation was between Dolphin , Little Horse and Pegasus .

The constellation was not popular among astronomers . It is not in the modern official list of constellations compiled by the International Astronomical Union .

Not to be confused with the Electric Machine , another canceled constellation (proposed by Bode in 1801).
