Content
Geography
Area 1111.2 km² [2] (17th among districts). The district borders on the north with Nekouzsky , in the east with Rybinsky and Bolsheselsky , in the south with Uglich districts of the Yaroslavl region, and in the west with the Tver region .
The main rivers are the Volga , Yukhot , and Sutka .
History
The district was formed on June 10, 1929 on part of the territory of the former Myshkinsky district (1777-1923) as part of the Rybinsk district of the Ivanovo industrial region . In 1935, the Aleksinsky and Garsky Village Councils were transferred to the newly formed Bolsheselsky District . March 11, 1936 the area became part of the Yaroslavl region . December 18, 1944 7 village councils withdrew to the newly formed Maslovsky district . March 6, 1959 in connection with the liquidation of the Maslovsky district , the Bogorodsky, Martynovsky and Christmas village councils entered the Myshkinsky district [3] .
On January 1, 2005, in accordance with the law of the Yaroslavl Region No. 65-z of December 21, 2004 “On the Names, Borders and Status of Municipalities of the Yaroslavl Region” [4] , the city settlement Myshkin and 4 rural settlements: Okhotinsky , Privolzhsky , were formed in the district , Christmas and Shipilovskoe . April 30, 2009, the law of the Yaroslavl region No. 25-z [5] Volga, Rozhdestvensky and Shipilovsky rural settlements were merged into the Volga rural settlement .
