Geography
Area 1120 km² (16th among districts). The district borders in the north with Yaroslavsky and Nekrasovsky , in the south and west with Rostov , in the northwest with the Borisoglebsky districts of the Yaroslavl region, as well as with the Kostroma region in the east and the Ivanovo region in the southeast.
The total area of water resources is 851 ha (including rivers - 263 ha). [3] The main rivers are Kotorosl , Lakhost .

The population as of January 1, 2010 is 27,651 people, including 18,077 people living in urban areas in the district center. [20] In 2008, 292 people were born, 554 died; 150 marriages were concluded, 136 were dissolved. [3]
