The Smolensk Military District is the operational-strategic territorial association of the Armed Forces of the USSR , which existed in 1945-1946.

History
The Smolensk Military District was formed by order of the People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR of July 9, 1945 by separation from the Moscow Military District . It included the territories of Smolensk , Bryansk , Kaluga and Velikiye Luki regions. The district administration is formed on the basis of the field administration of the 33rd Army .
By a directive of the General Staff of the Red Army of February 5, 1946, the okrug was transformed into a territorial okrug and included in the Moscow military okrug . After completion of the process of transfer of troops, by directive of May 6, 1946, the district was disbanded.
The district office is in Smolensk .
