The History of the Demolished Yauz Bridge
The bridge was built by contractor Andreyanov in 1805. The construction of the bridge was carried out without technical supervision. The bridge turned out to be longer on arshin and a fathom lower than was supposed by the project. Subsequently, it was rebuilt several times.
Name Origin
The bridge got its name in honor of 19-year-old Illarion Astakhov , who in 1917 was killed by police on this very bridge.
